This was taken from an outlook. What a view.

A view I saw daily, everywhere I went.

Lake Burley Griffin which is in the heart of Canberra.

A court yard at the National Museum

I love Canberra. For a city it is very pretty. As you can see from the top photos there are no high rises. No large buildings that stand out. Everything is neat and tidy. Their street lights stand on poles on the ground, where our's hang from each intersection. This was one of the first things I noticed as we drove into Canberra. They do not have many stop signs either. They have round abouts. It is such a diverse city, but so distinctive. The outskirts of Canberra are lovely. No matter where you are. Most are up on hillsides with beautiful views everywhere you look as in above photos. One other difference between Canada and Australia is we go shopping. They go to "the shops" :) There are even signs while driving along that say "To The Shops" with an arrow pointing. You have the best of two worlds here in Canberra. You have lots to do and see. Museums, markets :) history, Parliament House etc. And nature in your back yard. It is close to everything. 3 hrs to Sydney, 2 hrs to the coast, 2 hrs to the high country. The highways are wonderful! You couldn't find a better location to live. The only problem is everything is on a hill and very up and down. So those not in the best of health like me it was a challenge at times, but one I met nicely. For the nations Capital it certainly doesn't look old. There is nothing old looking about Canberra. There is not much of Canberra I did not see and if I had to choose a city to live in it would be there.
