There were many first experiences for me during this fabulous vacation. One being the ocean. Seeing the ocean for the first time was awe inspiring. I loved it. To sit and watch and listen was wonderful, to actually roll up my pant legs and stand in it was incredible. As chilly as it was I was not going to miss that opportunity. My first experience with the ocean was late at night at Bateman's Bay. After unpacking, my friends drove me down to the ocean. As I got out of the car I heard the crashing of the surf. Incredible sound. I walked slowly out on the sand watching carefully where I was going. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness I saw the whitecaps. I got as close as I dared and glanced up at an almost full moon. What an experience! My heart pounded as I watched and listened. It was a bit scary, the power of the surf.
