Across from where we were viewing the damn and the Snowy River was Lake Jindabyne. A beautiful lake! One I had been hearing about for a few years and excited to see :) As I stood looking out over both the Snowy River and the lake, with the mountains beyond, one thing seemed totally out of place. The highway dividing them. The noise from the cars seemed so wrong. And yet without that highway, we wouldn't have been able to see what we did :) After leaving here we went driving through the town of Jindabyne which is a lovely place. We could even see the snow fields beyond! We stopped at a beautiful spot. The Thredbo River. We spent a fair time there (Photos under Thredbo River) then off to get back down the mountain roads and home. On the way we saw this spectacular rainbow. At points we saw two rainbows at once. Beautiful!
