1. There are always good, valid, important reasons for feeling and behaving as we do. These reasons are always our fears and the false beliefs that create these fears. These beliefs may have been true when we were children but they are no longer true.
2. We cannot learn when we fear being wrong.
3. We cannot learn when we are afraid or being shamed.
4. It is our faulty beliefs that create our unhappiness, not outside events or anyone else's behavior.
5. One of the major false beliefs that we need to confront – the belief that underlies all co dependent behavior – is the belief that our happiness and unhappiness come from outside ourselves, from how others see us, and treat us, from whether or not others love and approve of us, or disapprove and reject us.
6. Love has no price tag attached.
7. We have no control over how others feel or behave toward us or themselves.
8. Your feelings are a mirror of the way you are thinking.
9. Every human being is a complete mix of positive, negative, and neutral attributes.
